Welcome to the Safety Zone, Phoenix Safety's monthly newsletter
Flash Flooding

Hundreds of thousands of Euro worth of damage was caused when flash floods struck parts of Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK recently.  Floods are one of the scariest and most common weather disasters.  They destroy everything in their path from cars to houses.  When the water reaches flood level, it is most often impossible to escape leading to disastrous circumstances and the possibility of loss of life.

Lawnmower Safety

The lawnmower is one of the most dangerous tools around the home.  Each year, a huge amount of people are treated in A&E departments for injuries received from using lawnmowers.  Only a small percentage of the injuries are caused by mechanical failure; most are the result of human error.  A lot of those injured are under 18 years of age.  Older children and adolescents were most often hurt while cutting lawns as chores or as a way to earn money.
