Eye wash is acceptable, but it should only be used when you have a proper eye wash station on site. The idea of these small eye wash bottles in first aid kits, is to give immediate treatment before you get a person to an eye wash station. When the eye accident happens (for example a splash of acid in the eye) the bottle of eye wash is poured over the eye, en route to the eyewash station, and then the ionized water in the eyewash station is administered from 15 minutes upwards, or as required by the Material Safety Data Sheet .
