The Killer
Handbag? |
 |
It's something that just about every woman owns. While we
may know what's inside our handbags, do we have any idea
what's on the outside? This is one for the ladies …

Early Decisions Save Lives |
|
Construction is a high risk industry. Last year 23 people
were killed and a further 12,000 people were injured on
construction sites in Ireland. Under the new construction
regulations safety on site is now everybody's business.
The onus is on designers, clients, construction companies
and employees to ensure they are aware of their
responsibilities in relation to health and safety.

Q&A section with Paul Tierney
|

Hi,
We would normally have 2 people working at night - office
based employment. The other night 1 rang in sick and so we
had only 1 employee on - too late to arrange a
replacement. The other employee therefore was working
alone, and he now has come to us saying that this is
illegal. Our building is very highly secured and there is
always 24 hr security. Can you please advice?
Many thanks, Paula

Hi,
We have a production area in which we exceed the 2nd
action level of the noise regs. The operators in this area
want to purchase ear defenders with a built-in speaker.
These ear defenders have a 5-ft coiled cord for plugging
into a CD player, walkman or AM/FM radio etc. The volume
control limits the sound produced inside the headset to
85db. The operators in this area work a 12 hour shift. I
would like to know if it acceptable to use these ear
defenders or should the 85db limit be lower. I would
appreciate your help on this matter.
Regards,
Michael
