Answer to Question 2:
Hi Geraldine,
Manual handling training is required for all office based employees. As per General Application Regulations 2007; employers are obliged to provide information and training for all staff who are involved in any "transporting or supporting of a load, and includes lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving a load which by reason of its characteristics or unfavourable ergonomic conditions, involves risk to the employee".
Guidance on the numbers of first aiders required in a workplace is also stipulated in the 2007 Regulations as follows, however you need to take into account any shift work, location of first aiders etc in your assessment of required numbers.
| Maximum No. of Employees present at any one time | No. of Occupational First-Aiders |
| Up to 99 | One if the Safety Statement risk assessment shows it is necessary. |
| 100/399 | One |
| 400/699 | Two |
| Greater than 700 | One extra for every 300 employees or part thereof |
Kind Regards,
Paul
