Basic Food Hygiene Course

 

Course Aim:    

This course provides participants with the basic food safety knowledge in order to prepare food in a safe and hygienic manner.  It will also help companies comply with the requirements of Regulation EC: 852/2004 in relation to the requirements for food safety training.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Know what Food Hygiene is.
  • Be aware of bacteria and the causes of food poisoning bacteria.
  • Identify conditions that may lead to food poisoning.
  • Identify correct food preparation techniques and temperature control of foodstuffs.
  • Be aware of correct methods of cleaning.

  • What is Food Hygiene?
  • Reasons for good Food Hygiene.
  • Consequences of poor Food Hygiene.
  • Food Hygiene Legislation.
  • Bacteria and Food Poisoning.
  • Operational and Structural Hygiene.

Who Should Attend:

People who are involved in Food Production, Transportation, Storage, Preparation and Service.  It is a requirement for all those working with food to complete formal training before employment commences and refresher training regularly after that.

Assessment & Certification:

To receive certification for Basic Food Hygiene all participants must successfully complete a theory exam.  The certification is valid for 3 years from the date of training.

Course Attendance:

  • Maximum of 12 participants
  • ½ Day duration
