Health & Safety Certificate - FETAC Level 5
Course Aim:
This course provides participants with the information and training necessary to increase health and safety competency and awareness within their organisation.
Course Objectives:
On completion of this course, participants will:
- Have the knowledge required to understand and recognise the factors that affect health and safety in the workplace.
- Have the knowledge and ability necessary to make a positive contribution to safe working and health in the workplace.
- Understand their role under health and safety legislation.
- Understand the principles of health and safety management.
- Recognise the legal, moral and financial consequences of poor safety management.
Course Programme:
- Legislation (Common & Statute) – as it applies to the
employer and employee.
- Communication skills.
- The Safety Statement/Manual.
- Hazard identification & risk assessment.
- Accident reporting and investigation.
- Consultation process in the workplace.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Safe manual handling.
- Fire safety.
- Emergency evacuation procedures.
- Machinery and work equipment safety.
- Workplace safety signage.
- Internal transport and pedestrian access.
Who should attend?
All persons wishing to expand their knowledge of health and safety in the workplace including managers, supervisors, responsible persons and other employees.
Assessment & Certification:
Participants will be required to complete the course and
a written examination set by FETAC to receive Level 5
Certification.
Training Methods:
- Multimedia classroom presentation with flipchart
discussions throughout.
- Course handouts, training records and evaluation
forms are also used.
Course Attendance:
- Maximum of 12 participants.
- 5 day duration.
