Fire Team Training
Course Aim:
This is a two day course designed to provide the Fire Team trainees with the knowledge to deal with fires or emergencies in a co-ordinated and safe way. It emphasises the dangers of fire, the importance of prevention and the necessity of urgent action when a fire breaks out.
Course Objectives:
On completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the physics and chemistry of fire.
- List the actions to be taken in the event of a fire.
- Take a control lead in an emergency evacuation.
- Be a competent member of the company Fire Fighting Team.
- Be aware of, and be competent to use, the different types of fire fighting equipment.
Course Content:
- Discussion of relevant statutory legislation and its requirements.
- Means of raising the alarm & summoning the fire brigade.
- Action in the event of a fire or fire alarm activation.
- Causes, costs & understanding of fires.
- Physics and chemistry of fire.
- Tackling a fire.
- Fire Team communications.
- Correct use of the fire extinguisher and fire hose.
- Marshalling.
- Evacuation procedures.
- Role of the Fire Warden.
Method of training:
A fire officer will conduct the course. Course includes classroom presentation (multimedia etc), flipchart discussions and models. Practical sessions using various fire fighting apparatus fighting live fires.
Course Attendance:
- Maximum of 12 participants.
- 2 day duration.
