Manual Handling Instructor Refresher Course

Course Aim:

To ensure that participants reaffirm their knowledge to ensure their continued competency to assess manual handling situations and recommend correct lifting techniques.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Demonstrate a high standard of knowledge in the relevant legislation.
• State any updates in relevant legislation.
• Apply the principles of safe handling.
• Complete a Manual Handling Risk Assessment.
• Continue to deliver a high standard theoretical and practical Manual Handling training session.

Course Content:

Day 1: Legislation recap, update in Ergonomics, Manual Handling Risk Assessment & Train the Trainer recap.
Day 2: Manual Handling Course, Examinations.

Who Should Attend:

This course is aimed at people who qualified as Manual Handing Instructors within the last five years and who wish to keep their certification for another five years.  Participants will be re-assessed on their learning and on their ability to instruct others in correct manual handling techniques.

Assessment & Certification:

At the end of the course, successful participants will be awarded a certificate which will be valid for 5 years.  Each successful participant will also receive a manual handling instructor’s pack which will enable them to present the course to the standard required by the HSA.

Course Requirements:

Light comfortable clothing is recommended due to the practical aspect of the course.   

Course Attendance:

• Maximum of 10 participants.
• 2 day duration.
